Reassign a project phase and all associated assignments efficiently with Smart Suggestions.
When you're in the People: Phase view, you can simply select a person or vertically drag and drop a project phase row with all its assignments from one person or role to another person or role.
Note: This functionality is only available for Resource Managers, Administrators and Owners.
Reassign Project Phase Row with Smart Suggestions
- In the People: Projects or People: Phases view of the Schedule page, hover your cursor over the person's assignment to display the floating action icons.
- Assignment hours prior to today's date can't be reassigned.
- Select the
More Actions icon and then select Smart Suggestions from the drop-down list to open the Smart Suggestions page.
The assignment being reassigned displays in the information header.
You can then reallocate the assignment using the Check icon or dragging and dropping the project phase row. - Hover over the person you're reallocating the assignment to and select the
Check icon.
Alternatively, you can follow the steps below to drag and drop the assignment.- Press and hold your left mouse button on the six dots
on a Project Phase Row to select it and the assignments associated under it.
- Drag the project phase row vertically and drop it to move the project phase and reallocate its assignments to a different person.
- When you are moving the row, it displays as a rectangle with a number indicating how many phases with assignments are attached to the phase.
- When you are moving the row, it displays as a rectangle with a number indicating how many phases with assignments are attached to the phase.
- Once dropped, the new resource expands to display all phases with assignments.
- If the row is dropped on a phase association, the assignment is moved to that phase.
- If the row is dropped on a project association and the project has phases, the assignment cannot be dropped.
- If the row is dropped on a project association and the project does not have phases, the assignment is dropped to that project.
- If the row is dropped on a person and the association already exists for the project / phase, the assignment is moved to that association.
- If the row is dropped on a person and the association does not exist for the project / phase, a new association is created.
- Press and hold your left mouse button on the six dots
- Select the Apply button to save the assignment move or the Cancel button to move the assignment back to the original person or role and close the dialog without saving.
- When an assignment is reallocated with Smart Suggestions, only the Name and Role display in the information header if no other assignments exist for the resource.
