Adding a Project to a Resource

An existing project can be added to a person or role without scheduling an assignment.

While you can add an assignment to a resource by completing the fields in the New Assignment dialog, using this method requires that you enter assignment dates and hours. So, what do you do if you don't have the exact dates or hours yet? Add the project as a place holder from the People view.

Step 1: Add Project

  • From the People view on the Schedule page, hover your cursor over a person or role in the list, or tap the row if using a mobile device. The row color changes to indicate the person you are selecting.
  • When the floating action icons display, select the add button-1 Add icon and then select Project from the list.

Note: This functionality is only available for Resource Managers, Administrators and Owners.

Step 2: Select a Project

A new project line is added, and a list of existing projects displays.

  • Select a project from the Project drop-down list.
    • Archived projects won't display in the Project drop-down list.

The resource and project are now associated but with no assignment. This association is also visible from the Projects view.

Note: An assignment can’t be added to an archived project.
